Math Support

My services range from providing enrichment to kindergarten-fifth grade students seeking advanced challenges, to intensive support for those who need targeted instruction.

Each student is assessed during the first session. I create personalized goals, monitor progress over time, and celebrate successes with students as they reach their milestones.

I use a multisensory, hands-on approach to help students in grades kindergarten-fifth grade master skills, following the CRA Instructional Sequence. CRA (Concrete, Representational, Abstract) is a research-based teaching method that supports conceptual understanding by guiding students through three stages:

  • Concrete: hands-on activities using physical objects

  • Representational: visual representations such as diagrams or drawings

  • Abstract: working with symbols and numbers

This progression helps students connect tangible experiences to symbolic thinking, fostering deeper mathematical understanding.

In my instruction, students engage in problem-solving and collaboration, learning to explain their own mathematical thinking while also understanding and appreciating different problem-solving approaches. I aim to help students experience mathematics as a creative, engaging, and conceptual subject, encouraging them to think deeply about mathematical ideas.

We had such a wonderful experience with Francesca as our daughter’s math enrichment tutor. Watching our daughter light up with excitement and curiosity has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey. We can’t thank Francesca enough for helping her grow - not just as a student, but as a learner who truly believes in herself.
